Terms of use

Last updated October 12, 2026

These terms apply to this website, operated for the Transformative Justice Project ("TJP," "we," "us"). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. What this site is

The site shares the TJP curriculum and related tools for educational purposes. TJP is an independent educational curriculum. It is not an official publication of the South Carolina Department of Corrections or any government agency, and nothing here implies endorsement by any agency, organization, or person named in it.

2. Not professional advice

Nothing on this site, including answers from the guide, is therapy, counseling, medical care, or legal advice. The courses describe research and practices; they do not diagnose or treat anyone. For a legal question about a case, appeal, or parole, talk with a lawyer. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 in the US, or call 911 in an emergency.

3. The guide

The "Ask the guide" feature uses an artificial intelligence model to answer questions using the TJP material. It can be wrong or incomplete. Check important information against the documents themselves. Do not enter private details about yourself or anyone else, especially details about crimes, victims, health, or a legal case.

4. Using the material

The TJP documents, courses, worksheets, and site content are protected by copyright. You may read, download, print, and share them for personal, educational, and nonprofit program use, as long as you credit the Transformative Justice Project and do not change their meaning. You may photocopy the worksheets for use in a program. You may not sell the material, present it as your own, or use it to suggest TJP endorses a product or organization. For any other use, ask us first.

5. Community rules

Where comments are open, please:

  • Do not share details of any crime, any victim, or anyone's case, and never share information that could identify a harmed person.
  • Do not post about specific incarcerated people without their permission.
  • No harassment, threats, hate, or sexual content.
  • No advertising, fundraising, or requests for money, goods, or contacts.
  • Disagree with ideas, not people.

Every comment is reviewed before it appears. We may decline, edit for safety, or remove any comment, and we may block anyone who breaks these rules. By posting, you give us permission to display your comment on this site.

6. Links to other sites

The site links to books, organizations, and other websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or practices.

7. No warranty

The site and its content are provided "as is." We work hard to be accurate, but we make no promises that the content is complete, current, or error-free, or that the site will always be available.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, TJP and the people who build and run this site are not liable for any loss or harm that results from using the site or relying on its content.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using the site after a change, the new terms apply.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

TJP

TJP reframes the narrative of harm, healing, and prevention.
